Facebook Timeline Touts Lift in Brand Page Engagement

Just a day before Facebook timeline becomes mandatory for all Brand Pages – We read on Mashable that the change might not be so bad.  highlights a recent study on Facebook’s timeline that would suggest that these new brand timelines might actually create a better relationship between companies and consumers.  Wasserman says, “If you’re a marketer wondering if migrating your brand to Facebook Timeline was worth the effort, here’s some encouraging data: A researcher reports that brands are getting an average 46% more engagement with Timeline. The researcher, Simply Measured, drew its results from an admittedly small sample: just 15 Facebook brand pages. Doing so may have created a false sense of lift, especially since the greatest beneficiaries, Livestrong and Toyota, saw their engagement rates jump 161% and 156%, respectively.”

20 Facebook Ad Metrics Marketers Should Know

Got to check out the 20 Facebook Ad Metrics that marketers should know about.

“Reporting is a crucial part of Facebook advertising. That’s why each of your ad campaigns should always have a clear goal and a set of metrics through which you can measure its performance. Facebook’s dashboard offers a range of tracking mechanisms that will help you focus on the results you care about. That being said, the analytics Facebook provides sometimes report on proprietary metrics that aren’t always intuitive to understand. If you’re using Facebook ads to help you ramp up your Facebook marketing efforts, here are the 20 Facebook metrics you need to understand to measure and improve your Facebook ad performance.”

See All 20 Metrics Here

Here are a couple we found interesting:

10. Conversions-Measurement of how many people responded to your call-to-action. This counts actions from the ad itself and includes when someone visits your fan page and then clicks ‘Like.’

12. CPC (Cost-Per-Click)-How much each click you received cost you. This number is calculated even if you didn’t bid on the cost-per-click model. It considers how many clicks you received (even if you’re paying by impression) and calculates how much it cost you for each click.

More Than Just Numbers: The Brands With the Top Relationship Quality on Facebook

AdAge touches on the biggest brands and the need for quality relationships with their followers.

“On Facebook, like in life, it’s not enough for someone to say he loves you. He has to prove it.

In Fathom Analytics’ new Relationship Quality Index, the top-rated brands on Facebook tend to be the ones with the most likes. YouTube (48 million likes), MTV (29 million), Coca-Cola (36 million), Starbucks (26 million) and Disney (29 million) make up the top five. But because of other factors, such as engagement and emotion, those brands don’t fall in precise order of fan counts.

So Starbucks, even though it trails Coca-Cola by 10 million fans, is behind by only one point — 87 to 86 — in RQI, thanks to superior engagement and sentiment for the company.”
